About Our Program

We are a small in-home breeder specializing in Aussiedoodles and Aussie Mountain Doodles. Growing up with Australian Shepherds made crossing them an easy choice for my family when we embarked on this journey in 2010. In 2012 we crossed in the Standard Poodle for less shedding and a more fun-loving, easy-going temperament. The brave and steady nature of the Bernese Mountain Dog was introduced to our program in 2020 in hopes of creating an even more versatile companion and working canine. We strive for a moderate energy level, minimal shedding, unmatched intelligence, and triple-threat loyalty. We’re now four generations into our breeding program, and although we realize that our Doodles are not for everyone; we could not imagine a more dynamic and well-rounded breed combination. We take great pride in what we do and strive for only the happiest, healthiest, and most even-tempered puppies. From our home to yours. ♡

How We Raise Puppies

  • All of our puppies are examined by a licensed veterinarian before going home at 8 weeks of age. This head-to-toe exam will include checking for hernias, heart murmurs, patellar luxation, improper bites, as well as a fecal test for internal parasites.

  • All of our dogs are screened for eye, joint, and heart health and tested through Embark Veterinary for over 250 genetic health risks. Dogs with one copy of a genetic disorder are not at risk; we always breed carriers to those who have tested clear.

  • Early neurological stimulation consists of a series of exercises conducted between days 3 and 16 days after birth. This period is a time of rapid neurological development for the puppies. Exposing the puppies to certain stimulations during this time can have life-long benefits. Studies have shown that puppies exposed to ENS had improved cardiovascular performance (stronger heart rate), stronger heartbeats, stronger adrenal glands, more tolerance to stress, and greater resistance to disease. This method was designed by the US military in order to improve the performance of working dogs.

  • Early scent introduction consists of a series of carefully selected scents introduced between days 3 and 16 days after birth. This process can increase nose awareness, as well as help prepare puppies to be better medical alert dogs, search and rescue dogs, hunting dogs, etc. Aside from service animals that may need an exceptionally great sense of smell, ESI can also help prepare puppies that are solely going to be human companions. By exposing them to these scents from a young age, we are preparing them to take on new smells (which is a large part of how they process information) with confidence.

  • Socialization is one of the most important factors when it comes to raising puppies. During the first 16 weeks of their life, puppies go through a developmental period that shapes their future temperament and personality. The amount of human interaction, socialization, and exposure to new experiences that a puppy has can greatly affect their temperament. Dogs that are socialized while they are young are less afraid of new people, other animals, and new situations. This decreases the likelihood of aggression and other unwanted social behaviors. It will be very important to continue this socialization during the first 8 weeks you have the puppy at home. We will help guide you on ways to get this socialization in safely as the puppy is not fully vaccinated until 16 weeks.

  • By exposing the puppies to many different sounds at a young age, they are less likely to fear them as adults. We expose our puppies to a wide variety of sounds in order to prepare them for the future, such as but not limited to; storms, firetrucks/ambulance, fireworks, animals, household appliances, etc. When we aren't practicing with loud noises the puppies enjoy falling asleep to classical music in their nursery.

  • We use exposure activities to introduce the puppies to new things and surfaces. By exposing the puppies to a variety of items and challenges at a young age they are able to build confidence and nerve strength resulting in them becoming a less fearful adult dog. We expose our puppies to a huge variety of tactile, balance, and surface activities to set them up for a successful future without fears of walking on reflective surfaces, uneven surfaces, raised surfaces, textured surfaces, steps/ramps, or wet surfaces. This exposure, like sound desensitization, allows for more opportunities to explore and learn about new things in their new environment while they are young and impressionable.

  • As a professional groomer I know exactly how important early grooming desensitization is. From the moment our puppies open their eyes they are regularly bathed, blow-dried and have their nails, faces and sanitary areas trimmed. We do our best to create a positive association with a brush, but it is imperative that this is maintained regularly after they go home.

  • We begin potty training with the puppy as soon as they begin getting up and playing. We do this by creating a separate potty area starting in the whelping box for them to go to. Puppies have a natural behavior of moving away from their sleeping area to use the bathroom. By giving them this seperate space they are better able to differentiate between sleep, play, and potty areas as they grow, thus learning the importance of going potty in a designated area. Once they are older, we begin taking them outside (weather permitting) to allow them to learn going potty on the grass outside as their designated space. This helps tremendously with the transition from our home to yours. A puppy that is difficult to potty train causes a lot of emotional stress on your family as you explore your new family dynamic of raising a puppy. We want to make that process easier and less stressful for you by beginning it while they are young. It is important, however, to understand that they are still puppies and are NOT going to go home fully potty trained. They will still have accidents in the house without constant training and positive reinforcement with potty training.

  • We begin crate training with our puppies as we believe that it is important for their transition home, as well as their safety and potty training. By getting them used to sleeping in their crates alone at night before they go home, it makes the first few nights away from their littermates easier and less stressful for them as they are already used to it. By creating a safe comfortable space for them in their crate, your family will be able to keep them safe from anything that they could get into when you cannot watch them. Crate training is also extremely important in aiding with potty training. By crate training them, it is easier to prevent nighttime accidents since they cannot wander throughout the house to find a place to potty. We begin crate training by using a snuggle puppy for them to sleep with, covering their crates with a lightweight/breathable blanket, and playing classical music (which is good for their mental development and stress management). We send this snuggle puppy home with them in order to help them with their first nights home. Although we start with crate training, it is important to understand that the first few nights away from their littermates can still be a bit difficult for them as they adjust. They may "cry" a bit at first, but our hope is that you and your puppy will have a peaceful transition.

  • We start on very basic leash training with the puppies. It is important to understand that they will NOT come home fully leash trained. The purpose of starting it with them early is to create a foundation upon which you can build your puppy's skills. Familiarizing them with the collar and leash allows you to easily transition into walking on a leash. By starting on their training when they are younger, they are easier to train how to not pull on the leash. This early training helps aid your efforts in training your new puppy.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • We only raise Aussiedoodles and Aussie Mountain Doodles at this time. On rare occasions, we may choose to have a litter of our foundation breeds (such as Standard Poodles) to retain a puppy for our program.

  • Each puppy's temperament, energy level and coat type will depend on that of it's individual parents rather than the breed itself, as both crosses have very similar characteristics and subtle differences.

Aussiedoodle: Australian Shepherd & Poodle hybrid- Smart, loyal, eager to please, medium-high energy level, therapy and service dog potential, active and energetic. Aussiedoodles are incredibly sensitive, which makes them incredibly easy to train. However, they can sometimes be less social and lean into being a "one person" Velcro dog.

Australian Mountain Doodle: Australian Shepherd, Bernese Mountain Dog, and Poodle hybrid- Smart, loyal, eager to please, medium energy level, therapy and service dog potential, friendly, social, and outgoing. Aussie Mountain Doodles are incredibly outgoing, which makes them incredibly easy to socialize. However, they can sometimes be stubborn and a little "too smart for their own good".

Both crosses make fantastic family dogs, as well as working dogs, and there isn't a "wrong" choice between the two. Go with your gut and you'll know your perfect puppy when you see him/her regardless of breed makeup.

  • Moyen (Approximately 25-40+ lbs) & Standard (Approximately 40-55+ lbs)

  • We cannot guarantee ANY puppy to be hypoallergenic or 100% non-shedding and would steer clear of any breeder who tells you otherwise. Because this is a hybrid cross comprised of both shedding and non shedding breeds, coat types may vary drastically. Mild allergies are often okay, but if someone in your home has severe allergies we do recommend additional testing. Generally speaking, our most allergy-friendly litters would be furnished, curly coated, high Poodle content pairings and the least allergy friendly would be unfurnished, straight coated, low Poodle content pairings.

  • Puppy coats are easy to maintain however, you should comb them frequently to prepare them for when their adult coat comes in. It is never too early to get your puppy used to grooming at home while they are young. We recommend you blow-dry after every bath to prevent their fur from matting and schedule regular sanitary and face trims throughout puppyhood. A mature Doodle will require professional grooming every 6-8 weeks. Brushing should be done at home at least a few times per week if not more depending on your dog's exact length and coat type. Bathing and blow-drying can be done every few weeks or as needed. Adult Doodles have a high maintenance coat that will need regular upkeep to help them stay looking their best. Please reconsider taking on the responsibility of a Doodle if you are not willing and able to care for their coat physically and financially throughout their entire life.

  • In general, the curlier coats tend to shed the least but require the most maintenance. Whereas wavier coats don’t mat as easily but may come with minimal shedding. On occasion, we do have “unfurnished puppies”

  • The term "furnishings" refers to the long hair found on a dog's head and tail (mustache, eyebrows, etc). The Australian Shepherd is an unfurnished breed, whereas the Poodle is a furnished breed. Furnishings are a dominant trait, meaning a dog only needs to have one copy of the gene to show that physical trait. When a purebred Australian Shepherd is crossed with a purebred Poodle the resulting dog is an F1 Aussiedoodle. Generally speaking, all F1 Aussiedoodles are furnished, so long as the Poodle is properly coated. The same applies to F1b's and other generations backcrossed with more Poodles. When crossing multi-generational Aussiedoodles, or backcrossing with more Australian Shepherd, the genetics become a bit more complicated. If two dogs are paired together that both carry one copy of the unfurnished gene, there is a 25% chance for a puppy to be born unfurnished. We do not plan a breeding without taking this into heavy consideration. Minimal shedding is always ideal. However, temperament is our number one priority. Therefore, on rare occasions, we will choose to have a litter that will produce unfurnished puppies. Especially in special cases, such as breeding to retain a puppy for our program. Although chances are an unfurnished pup will shed more than a furnished one, it will still likely be less than that of a purebred Australian Shepherd. Unfurnished dogs also have many advantages such as; fewer water bowl messes, less dragging debris inside, and limited grooming (saving you money). If you are into the "Aussie look" with all of the wonderful Doodle temperament, an unfurnished pup may be the perfect fit for you.

  • It can be common for a Doodle’s color to change to some degree as they mature. Some colors lighten and some may darken. This comes from the Poodle side and can be present in any type of Poodle mix. We try our best to produce the most vibrant colors possible but health and temperament will always come first. We do try to make note of pairings that are highly likely to fade based on their parents.

  • Yes! The majority of our Doodles go to active families who enjoy outdoor activities together. Our Doodles love simple walks around the block, and exploring hiking trails and some enjoy swimming in rivers/ponds. Our Doodles (no matter the size) can tolerate more strenuous hiking although it is recommended you work up to longer/harder hikes and never push your dog past his/her limit. Any strenuous activity should wait until after your puppy has fully matured and their growth plates have closed for proper joint health.

  • All of our dogs are raised in our home, with our children, and we trust them wholeheartedly. We raise incredibly loyal breeds that can be very nurturing and protective by nature, especially with little ones. With that being said, please do keep in mind that nearly every puppy (regardless of breed) goes through a jumping phase and that because of the Australian Shepherd's natural working drive Aussiedoodles or Aussie Mountain Doodles may be more prone to "herding" running little ones. The majority of our adoptive families are those with children and they have done wonderfully, with proper obedience training.

  • We do not dock tails on Aussiedoodles, but do on occasion have puppies born with natural bobs. We also no longer remove dewclaws unless absolutely necessary as recent studies have shown a link between this practice and arthritis.

  • We ask that puppies are fixed no sooner than ten months of age (or after growth plates are closed) to ensure proper joint development. Around a year of age is ideal. All prices listed are for PET ONLY homes. Breeding rights are available on select puppies to approved breeders for an additional cost and include copies of parent's registration, health testing, etc.

  • Our 2-year Genetic Health Guarantee covers the 250+ genetic disorders that our dogs have been tested for ONLY. It does not cover communicable illnesses or conditions that can be caused by environmental factors such as diet, injury, etc. We do also offer a 2-day General Health Guarantee after pickup to ensure that your puppy comes home healthy.

  • We do not have a “facility” or a kennel setup. All of our puppies are raised and cared for in our home, by our family. For safety and bio-security reasons, WE DO NOT ALLOW VISITORS OUTSIDE OF PICKUP DAYS. We are happy to share updated photos and videos of your puppy at any time and do so frequently via Instagram. We understand your excitement and appreciate your patience and understanding in this matter.
